Gasoline Alley.
As a race fan, tomorrow is one of my biggest days of the entire season.
Monaco. Indy 500. The 600. It just doesn't get much better than that. But then again, for my birthday I get The Daytona 500, and as a warm up to that it's always the twenty four hour endurance race, not to mention the 12 hours of Sebring. And around Fathers Day, Le Mans, fantastic. Always one of the best.
There are many others of course, but to be able to watch three of the most highly acclaimed and prestigious events on the motor sports calendar, on the same day, comfy at home, on my favourite couch, sparkling monitor, dazzling sound system, experiencing it from the driver's point of view, is truly amazing. All possible, thanks to technology.
Don't get me wrong, I've been to many live events, all over the place. Took lots of pictures, met the drivers and learned a bit about the concept of racing, along the way. Love it. The atmosphere, nothing beats being there in person. But since I can't attend any of the events tomorrow, I planned my day accordingly.
I'm ready. I did all my shopping, got all the stuff I need, together, in one place, within easy reach, ready for a day of thrills. With remote in hand, I'm ready for Monaco, the Indy 500 and the 600. I'm ready for almost 1350 incredible miles of flat out competition with precisely engineered rocket ships on wheels, pilots with amazing skills and the technology available for me to watch it at home, through the eyes of the drivers, at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour.
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines.
