Is this seat taken.
Caught the 8:23 back to the big smoke yesterday morning.
It was a great ride. Met a very interesting older gentleman who absolutely loves photography and art. The train was busy, not too many available seats. He asked to join me. I would never say no, besides, I'm always on the look out for a couple of hours of stimulating conversation. I'm especially happy that I accepted this time. This was a good one.
His passion, his knowledge, his lifelong dedication to photography made this one of the most memorable trips. He was a photojournalist for a number of newspapers, here and abroad, and in his earlier years also served as a field photographer during World War II. Over his fifty year career, he travelled the world, seen and done just about everything, and along the way received many awards and acclamations for his work, yet remained humble, throughout.
I admire his dedicated passion and absolute love for the arts, and listened intently to his accounts about his life's achievements. Photography is still his number one interest and he continues to retain his open mindedness by exploring and experimenting with digital, including the wonderful world of photoshop.
As we arrived at our final destination, he thanked me for sharing my seat. I reached out to shake his hand and experienced one of the warmest, most genuine handshakes, and broadest smiles, ever.
Gotta love it.
